Heewon KIM
Artist Heewon Kim is interested in scenes where light and shadow flicker. She expresses the idea that the scene in front of us can appear in various meaningful forms, rather than being fixed, using particles combined with the material properties. The smallest pigment particles of dry drawing materials spread and cluster, small flaws carved on the copperplate in printmaking, and dotting eroded by turpentine, and the shapes of other particles expressed by pigments spreading and clustering in oil and water, appear like flickering little lights, like raindrops in a blurred scene, and like air bubbles reacting to light underwater, creating original scenes and different scenes. She hoped to remind viewers that the scene before us, and the situation, have multifaceted aspects, creating different sentiments from the original inspiration. Her work is a study seeking the possibility of finding different meanings in a single scene, starting from communication design to illustration and printmaking.
Lead Artist in Printmaking, Material Library Showcase, College of Fine Arts, Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea
: Specialized in material research and technical implementation for the university's permanent material database project.
